DORSCON Orange: What it Means
Let’s keep each other safe and informed.
The DORSCON level has been raised to Orange since Friday, 7th February 2020. The public has taken their own measures by emptying shelves in the supermarkets and also shunning people who were in contact with confirmed and suspected cases, namely the medical personnel. Is this necessary? Let’s take a look at what the DORSCON levels mean and the advice to the public from the Ministry of Health (MOH) to find out how we should be reacting to this situation!
SADeaf Business Continuity Plan
In view of the conravirus situation and Singapore raising its disease outbreak alert to Orange, The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) will be implementing our Business Continuity Plan with effect from 11 February 2020.
SADeaf staff will be split into two teams which will alternate between working from home and working at the office. Despite this, we will strive to ensure that our services remain accessible and unaffected as far as possible.
Please note our operating hours till further notice:
* SADeaf will be open daily from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm.
* Our night office service on Wednesdays till 9pm also remains unchanged.
* The Hearing Care Centre (HCC) will operate daily from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm. Sessions after office hours are available by appointment booking only. There will not be any consultation on Saturday. Kindly contact HCC to make an appointment via https://sadeaf.org.sg/service/hcc/.

Purple Care Project
Watch as 2 Deaf talents, Mairah and Isabelle, take on their first challenge as Purple Tea ambassadors. Support them in their journey, from learning about the benefits of Purple Tea to capturing the goodness of this tea in a 1-hour social media challenge. They will have to generate 2 creative Facebook posts at the end of this challenge.

SADeaf signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Future Of Work (FOW)
SADeaf signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Future Of Work (FOW) on 7 February 2020 to collaborate on a lifelong learning and job matching project for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community and other Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The MOU was signed by SADeaf’s Executive Director Ms Judy Lim and FOW’s CEO Dr Neo Kin Kah, and witnessed by Principal Social Worker Mr Kelvin Tan.
SADeaf’s Ambassador – Grab, announced relief measures for drivers partners quarantined for coronavirus
Grab hosted some 1200 private-hire vehicle drivers and food delivery riders to a Chinese New Year celebration on 6 February 2020 at the Suntec Convention Centre. During the celebration, Grab’s Country Head (Singapore) Mr Yee Wee Tang announced Grab drivers and food delivery riders who have been placed under quarantine orders due to the novel coronavirus will receive a care package aimed at alleviating their loss of income while they are unable to work.
In addition, the government announced on Saturday (1 February 2020) that quarantined drivers will receive additional financial relief.
Grab and the National Private Hire Vehicles Association (NPHVA) also announced a partnership to provide Grab Driver-Partner Training kit – a curated set of training courses to equip Grab’s driver-partners with the necessary skill sets to drive safely and stay relevant in today’s changing business environment.
SADeaf Lunar New Year Celebration 2020
The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) celebrated Lunar New Year 2020 with our Deaf clients and members on 1 Feb 2020 at the association. Joining the fun were the Association’s President Mr Martin Marini, Vice-President Mr Gregory Wee, Honorary Treasurer Mr Jeremy Chan, Executive Director Ms Judy Lim, together with volunteers from NUS. It was indeed a fun-filled afternoon amid a group lou hei, games, a sumptuous buffet, performances from Signifique, and a blessed draw. Congrats to Mr Tyrone Teo, who walked away with the first prize, a big hamper sponsored by Sadeaf’s Ambassador Asia Farm F&B Pte Ltd.
