There are more than 5,400 persons with hearing loss registered with SADeaf. We have seen a gradual increase in the number of registered clients over the years. The increase can be attributed to the ageing population, with many elderly who may face deafness or hard-of-hearing.
What percentage of these know sign language?
The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) has more than 5,400 clients who are deaf or hard of hearing. Among them, a third stated that they know sign language, while the rest admitted they do not know or did not give a response when asked.
