PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF 63rd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Notice is hereby given that the 63rd Annual General Meeting of the Singapore Association for the Deaf will be held on Saturday, 22nd September 2018 at 3.00pm at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Singapore Association for the Deaf, 227 Mountbatten Road, Singapore 397998.
Members may submit in writing to the Honorary Secretary, not later than Friday, 10th August 2018, any resolutions, motions for amendment of rules and any other matters to be included in the Agenda. Submissions must be made either by hand or by post to the Honorary Secretary at the registered address of the Singapore Association for the Deaf. Any submissions by email or fax will not be accepted.

The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) is delighted to welcome back our “Deafinitely Durian” party after a long three-year hiatus!
This traditional and popular annual festival is dedicated to our corporate partners and donors coming together to enjoy a durian feast to raise funds and awareness for SADeaf.
Deafinitely Durian will be held on Saturday, 1 Oct 2022 in our SADeaf Hall. There will also be programme lineups like learning some basic Singapore Sign Language (SgSL), quizzes and games in addition to the feasting on the king of fruits!

21st Duskin Leadership Training in Japan is now opened for applications.
The Duskin programme, which was first implemented in 1999, is designed to provide highly motivated young individuals with disabilities in Asia and the Pacific region with about a 10-month long training opportunity to learn about the current welfare measures and services for persons with disabilities in Japan. It also offers a series of workshops where participants can enhance their practical skills and develop good leadership.

Apple has a tremendous initiative of hosting the Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) in their Retail stores and offices around the world.
GAAD is a week long event of raising awareness and education to the public on accessibility as well as hosting a series of talents from the PwD community. GAAD is made available to everyone at the Apple Orchard Retail store (270 Orchard Road)
We are excited to share that there will be talents from our Deaf and Hard-of-hearing community that will be showcasing and presenting their incredible work/skills at the Apple Orchard Retail store.

Live Art: Figures and Caricatures with Isaac Liang
Time: 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Join deaf illustrator Isaac Liang for Global Accessibility Awareness Day and learn about his journey around the world, sketching and painting with iPad Pro. He’ll share the fundamentals of figure drawing. Then you’ll get hands-on with iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using lines and colour to create your own caricatures. The session will be facilitated by a sign language interpreter.

We are looking for outstanding Deaf individuals and dedicated teachers who have made an impact on the lives of Deaf students. If you know of any deaf friends who had made outstanding progress in their studies, a deaf colleague or friend who excelled in sports, someone with a special talent that deserved recognition or a dedicated teacher that had made an exemplary impact on deaf students in the classroom, please let us know by completing the respective nomination forms.
